Update for 12/23/2008

Finally! The Winter Recess is here!!!

Alright, a few words...

Chemistry 1:
• Most of you should have gotten the Winter Recess Package - Take-Home Exam. If you did not come to class on Tuesday, you can get the exam package here. The due date for the exam package is Monday, Jan. 5, 2009.
• Also, the deadline for all late/missing HWs and Lab Reports is on the Friday of the week we come back (Jan 9, 2009). If you would like to make up your assignments, drop me an e-mail and I will tell you what you missed. There would be no make up for missing assignments after Jan. 9, 2009.
• Reminder: P1 Lab. #14 on Jan. 5 during 0th period.

Living Environment Prep:
• You should have gotten your winter recess project guideline (if not, get it here). Due date for the project is Jan. 6, 2009.
• Again, if you have lab. reports which you did not hand in, make sure you turn them in first thing after the recess.

Here is the update for today:

Chemistry 1:
• Test Correction for Unit 5 Exam: Due tomorrow. For multiple choice questions must provide explanations for what you believe is the correct answer (not for your previous wrong answer). Hand in your test along with the test correction.
• Tomorrow you will receive your Winter recess assignment.
• Turn in your late and missing HWs/Lab. reports (including HW#34).

Living Environment Prep:
• No HW today. Guideline for your Winter recess project to be explained tomorrow.
• Your Protein synthesis lab. is already past due!

Here is the update (things for you to do when you finished playing with the snow):

Chemistry 1:
• HW #34 (Due Monday): Holt - Do p. 233 Problems #9, 10, 12, 13.
• Reminder: Lab. Report #13 due Monday.
• There will be no labs. next week.

Living Environment Prep:
• Steam - off, at least for the weekend.
• Make sure you complete the Protein Synthesis Lab and submit it by Monday at the latest.

ALL CLASSES: 3rd marking period will come to an end shortly. I want you to use this weekend and the winter recess time to make up for any works that you did not submit. THE DEADLINE FOR ALL LATE/MISSING ASSIGNMENT IS THE FRIDAY OF THE 1ST WEEK OF JANUARY 2009 (NO EXCEPTION). Update for 12/18/2008

Here is the update for today:

Chemistry 1:
• HW #33 (Due tomorrow): Holt - Read pp. 224-233, Do p. 233 #1, 6, 7.
• For those of you who were here for Monday's lab but did not get a chance to do the experiment, here is the experimental data you need to be able to complete the lab.:
1. 26.4 grams; 3. 29.5 grams; 7. 27.6 grams;
• Molecular mass of water molecule is 18.02 g/mol;
Q1.: appearance of sodium phosphate before heating were white crystalline grains which reflects light, whereas afterward were coalesced chunks with opaque white color.
• Reminder: Lab. #13 report due Monday.

• Complete lab. write-up for tomorrow, it would serves as an useful practice.

• Quiz tomorrow: Construct Lewis Dot Diagram for covalent compound, naming covalent compound from formula, and workout the formula from their names.

• No HW today. If you didn't study the notes well, spend some times to do it. Exam II on the same topic on Thursday.

Chemistry 1:
• If you find the quiz hard, it's likely that you really didn't get the exercise on the worksheet. Make sure you understand how to do those for the ionic compound, otherwise covalent compound will make things even more confusing.
• No HW today, start working on the lab. report due next Monday.
