Welcome Back!

Hi Guys and Gals,

Welcome back! I am happy to see some old faces and new faces today, and quite a number of you have gotten taller...

Just to remind you, the beginning of a new school year is a chance to make a new start for your life. May be you got distracted last year, or may be you had family problems; but remember this: You have got to take control and take responsibility for your life. No one else can do that for you but yourself. When you put your best efforts in, you will always get something out of it no matter what.

Good Luck and let's make it a memorable one!!

Update for 6/27/2008

To my students,

So here we are finally, the beginning of the summer vacation!

We have finished the grading for the Regent Exam, some did good, some didn't, and a few with low fly-bys. For those who are interested, here are a few options:

1. If you have satisfied the lab. requirement and took the June 2008 Regent exam (or missed that exam for any reason), you can register for the August 2008 Regent exam. Please contact school's main office for further details. This would also apply to those who wish to retake the exam.

2. If you did not satisfy the lab. requirement for Regent but has at least 15 labs, you can find out if the school offered summer school in the subject that you're interested. If the school offer the class, then you can register for the summer school, satisfy the labs, and take the Aug. Regent exam. If not, you will need to retake the class next term.

3. If you did not have at least 15 labs.... See you in the Fall, same class, again!

That's all for now, guys and gals, be safe, and have a nice summer vacation!

Signing off...

Remember, Vertical axis is the dissolution time, Horizontal axis includes 3 different points: Tablet, 4-pieces, and Powders for today's experiment. For each group, plot the 3 points and draw a line through them. Use 1 color for room temp (18 oC - 24 oC), and a different color for higher temperature range (30 oC - 40 oC). If there is too much temperature difference (> 1 or 2 oC) within a group's data, I would suggest you drop that set of data (it would be difficult to interpret).
• Lab. #25 write-up is due tomorrow. Make sure you answer all the questions and do the plot.

Welcome Back! (1/30/2008)

To all my students,

Welcome back to Spring Term 2008!!

Remember all of you should be taking Regent exams this June, and this means that the number 1 concern you all need to pay serious attention to is the labs. requirement. By the end of this term, you need to have 30 labs. in order to be qualified for the Regent exam (No exception).

All of you should have gotten a copy of the Student Contract. As HW #1, read it and have your parent/guardian read it and sign it. You do not need to rip off the bottom slip, I will be coming around to check it. It's due tomorrow.

Update for 1/15/08

To my students,

now that I have my grades submitted, there's a few things that I like to remind you:

1. Return textbook promptly (tomorrow). I will start forwarding all non-returned textbook receipts to the main office so they can start sending the bill to your home.

2. While it's too late for you to pull up your grade, if you have that lab sitting somewhere in your room, it's to your best benefits to complete it and hand them in regardless. Quite a number of you have failed because you did not attend and submit the labs, and frankly, if you don't submit them, you're going to the summer school (no make up labs if number of missing labs is excessive) .

That's all for now,

Dr. Liu
