Update for 11/12/2009

Here is the update for today:

To ALL: 2nd Marking Period ends next Friday, be sure to hand in any missing assignment/lab reports immediately!!!

Regent Chemistry 1:
• HW #19 (Due Monday): Holt - Read pp. 90~99, Do p. 99 Problems 1, 2, 3, 9.
• Reminder: Lab. #9 tomorrow in Rm. 311.
• Check the blog posting regarding the SmartScience Online Labs - you will need to start making up those missing labs quickly!
• Explanation of Visible Line Spectrum: • When electrons are subjected to stimuli such as heat, light, or electricity, an electron may absorb energy and temporarily move from the stable ground state to the unstable excited state. The spectral lines are the result of these electrons falling from higher energy levels to lower energy levels, in the process release photons with different quanta of energies (different wavelength of lights). These different wavelength of light would appear as lines when viewed using spectroscope. Different element would have different bright-line spectra which can then be used for elemental identification.

Regent Chemistry 2:
• HW #15 (Due Monday): Holt - Read pp. 468-477; Do p. 477 Problems # 2, 6, 8, 10.
• Reminder: Lab. #23 tomorrow in Rm. 311.
• Reminder: Smart Science Online Lab: Solubility due next Wednesday.

Environmental Science 2:
• HW #7: Fresh and Salt Water Fact Sheet Questions.
• Reminder: Meet in Rm. 311 tomorrow.
